Solo Travel

Plain and simple: I love to travel solo.

I first traveled solo in 2017 — I went to Peru and Bolivia, which I will go on the record for saying these two countries were an excellent introduction to backpacking and the life of solo adventuring.

Ever since, I have taken at least one major solo trip a year.

Traveling solo brings me back to myself, back to my home, back to my soul.

Traveling solo helps me to see my power, to live fully within my strengths.

Traveling solo pushes me to be brave, to be outgoing, to be adventurous.

And traveling solo is a lot less lonely than you might think.

Unless you truly want to be alone, traveling solo doesn’t stop you from meeting people. In fact, I see it as quite the opposite.

Traveling solo opens you up to meeting new and interesting folk. Who would you rather approach in a restaurant — a group of 5 girls, or one girl with her eyes up, smiling and comfortable in her skin.

I know who I would want to talk to :)

My goal back in 2017 when traveling solo was to open myself up — to be brave and meet people. At that time, I didn’t want being single to stop me from doing amazing things.

So, I did! I stayed in hostels. I met other travelers. I got inspired to travel more — to travel solo. I heard about Colombia (my next trip) and Guatemala (my current trip). I was introduced to alternate lifestyles, gap years, sabbaticals.

I started to understand that travel isn’t just something you have to do on your vacation — a quick week or two per year. No, travel can be a lifestyle, it can be something that a person strives to live for, always.

Throughout the years, I have noticed that I feel most alive, most like me, when I am traveling, adventuring, and doing things solo. It is when I am solo, and often when I am in a new setting, that I feel the complete pride and joy that I equate to my own soul-alignment.

So, as I embark on my next excursion, my goal this year is to follow that soul-alignment. To follow the good vibes. To find travel magic, everywhere I look. To meet other travelers, to immerse myself in the country, to say YES to new experiences, even ones that scare me. To learn, and to grow.

I know that I can.
